Sherrie McCrary: Bio

Choosing to pursue

Choosing to pursue one’s dream is often met with roadblocks, setbacks, detours, and ultimately tests the resilience of what you are made of. For emerging inspirational recording artist and actress Sherrie McCrary the choice to travel the road toward her dreams has been an amazing journey; a trek toward her becoming everything that God has destined her to be.
An Atlanta native, Sherrie’s passion for the arts took root at an early age. Like many children, she’d emulate her favorite singers with a hair brush in hand and solo performances in the bathroom mirror. As the years passed she grew from mimicking other singers to finding her voice and soul by belting out her unique vibrant soprano range. Finding her comfort zone in the genre of Contemporary Christian Music, Sherrie aims to live outside of the box and deliver music that listeners from all walks of life can relate to.
Putting the finishing touches on her debut studio project entitled Breakthrough and with the release of her award nominated new single “Because of the Cross,” Sherrie is well on her way to becoming a formidable contender in CCM and Gospel music, accomplishing feats within a small window of time that for some artists take years to achieve.
As a consummated artist not only in music but in theater, Sherrie began developing her acting chops by starring in various stage productions in the Atlanta market and toured regionally. Her notable performances include her participation in productions ranging from Big Shirley Production’s Don’t Drive Mama Away and True Love Production’s True Love. From the local stage to the silver screen, Sherrie co-starred alongside Dean Cain (Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman) in the LionsGate 2010 TV feature film The Way Home which aired on the Lifetime Network.
Capitalizing on her national exposure, she has performed the National Anthem on live TV between the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks basketball team which aired nationally on ESPN in late 2009. In support ofBreakthrough, Sherrie has appeared and performed for an array of regional and national shows ranging from WATC TV 57’s Atlanta Live, 30 Minutes of Gospel, Honor and Glory Show with G-Wade, to My Church Radio, and countless others.
Nominated for a bevy of awards ranging from the 6th Annual Agape Gospel Theater & Film Awards hosted by Dr. Bobby Jones (BET’s Bobby Jones Gospel Show) to her 2010 YEGA Award Show nomination for Female Vocalist of the Year for her new single, “Because of the Cross,” Sherrie shows no signs of slowing down…stay tuned for the Breakthrough
